All Caped Up

The lazy girl’s guide to covering up in winter and still looking sophisticated? With it’s throw-it-on-and-go and dramatic silhouette I’m all for the cape this winter.

It’s cosy, easy to wear and kinda makes you feel like a superhero. At the moment, I’ve recently seen them at Zara, Witchery & Country Road, Forever New, in YDE and on

Here’s how I styled my cape – all black everything, classic aviators and plum lips.

SA Jewellery Brand Voted Vogue’s Top Ten

Super proud of South African brand Pichulik, that’s been hailed as one of the top 10 jewellery labels in the world to watch by Vogue Italia.

I think the brand is so successful because it’s instantly recognisable, due to it’s signature material – rope, and is the perfect balance between African craft and elegant style.

Currently on my wishlist? These Pichulik mix and match earrings. You get two gold hoops and five detachable parts to play with.

Here’s a photo of me wearing my favourite Pichulik bangle at SA Menswear Fashion Week earlier this year.

A Grey Kinda Day

You can always rely on your neutrals to get you through wintery days.

If you asked me what my favourite colour was, I’d be tempted to say grey. Yes, I know black, white and grey fall under the inconspicuous “non-colour” class, but, in fashion, they’re the world’s sell-out shades.

Here’s a monochrome outfit I wore the other day. The key to one-colour dressing is to layer a variety of different fabrics so it’s less drab and more three dimensional and chic.

If you’re looking to splurge on a coat (because let’s be real, these days a good quality coat costs the same as a full month’s groceries) I would suggest you ditch the usual black and opt for one in a medium to dark shade of grey. Like black, it’s versatile and will make friends with everything in your closet and suits almost any skin tone – and it’s super fresh.

I’m wearing:
Off the shoulder top – H&M
Coat – Zara
Skinny pants – Cotton On
Choker – DIY
Rings – H&M
Belt – Vintage
Thigh high boots – Zara

The Latest Shoes And Accessories You’ll Want To Shop

If you know me personally, you would know that I have a slight problem when it comes to shoes… and accessories. Seriously, #ihavethisthingwithshoes

Part of my job as Junior Fashion Ed at Cosmopolitan Magazine is finding the most ah-mazing shoes and accessories, shooting them, talking about them, writing about them… I remember this every time I have an ‘I don’t want to go to work’ moment, and remember that I’m lucky to be doing something I’m so passionate about – and it doesn’t hurt being surrounded by beautiful things all day.

This month’s COSMO features a ‘Shoes & Accessories’ special shot by yours truly and there are some hero pieces. From perspex heels to incredible sculptural heavy metal jewellery, the trends we’ve featured have travelled from the runway to our local designers and retailers.

Here’s a peak – but if you haven’t bought the May issue yet, do yourself a fashionable favour and do!

Side note: If there’s something I’ve noticed about those trail blazing fashionable women we come across in our lives, it’s that it’s not just their clothing that does the talking, their outfits are always punctuated with gorgeous accessories and even better shoes. A little style wisdom on a fake Monday.

On Top Of The World In My Calvins

The best thing about fashion? Reinventing yourself to be whoever the hell you want to be.

This time around I was bringing out my inner eighties hip hop meets modern minimalist approach via the always versatile My Calvins bra. You can wear it as an on trend item for casual wear, as a sports bra to yoga or as a more clean and simple take on lingerie.

Here’s how I paired mine while having an eighties moment on a rooftop somewhere in Cape Town…

I layered my CK bra with a sleeveless blazer and a cocoon coat, suede skinny pants and and killer leather booties. Not to mention my character-ridden gold ‘bamboo’ hoops… They’re pretty fly.

I’m wearing:

Bra – Calvin Klein
Sleeveless blazer – Zara
Coat – Lazuli
Earrings – H&M
Boots – Zara

Sunday Dressing

Sundays are all about doing absolutely nothing or adventuring it up all day. This, largely dependant on Saturday nights’s happenings… Either way, Sundays are made for slouch dressing – in a stylish way. Slouchy knits, worn in tees, laid-back denims… There’s a movement towards this casual aesthetic, not limited to Sundays ofc but, rather, inspired by Sundays. I call it Sunday Dressing.

My fail-proof recipe to Sunday-dress it up, or rather – down, goes like this:  is: 1x statement t-shirt, 1x leather biker jacket, 1x pair distressed denims and 1x pair of white sneakers. It’s a chic look and ready for whatever your day brings, whether you’re going to be lazing it up or in adventure mode.

Summer’s Last

With the temperature inevitably dropping and rain drops arriving to soothe the drought, winter is creeping up on us (still trying to wrap my head around this fact). Take my OOTD as an ode to the closing of Summer.

This leather vintage belt with metal bull detail is one of my favourite accessories. It was my mom’s when she was my age, until I stole it a few years ago. You just don’t get belts like these anymore. If anyone has seen anything quite like this, hollaa.
