Throwback to Cape Town Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2015

One of my first fashion weeks working for a publication, which meant loads of Instagramming and back up battery packs on tap. We also shot an editorial there as per the lovely Poppy Evans aka my #GirlBoss which I will definitely be posting.

I’m wearing:
Top – River Island
Skirt – Fashion Express
Tights – Woolworths
Earrings – Topshop
Handbag – Dune London
Boots – Zara
PS. How lovely are my burnt orange fringed earrings? Mildy obsessed (even though they didn’t do well to my ear lobe).

My Distressed Denims

My blog has been a little neglected at the moment as life has been crazy. I started working at COSMO Magazine three weeks ago which probably has a thing or two to do with it! I’m loving the craziness however, and now that I am more settled I vow to post more often.

I finally got the chance to put my Legit Denim Kit to use and customised my jeans. While I usually I try to stay far away from scissors, needles and anything customising related – they actually turned out pretty great! I went for a simple jean roll up and then distressed my denims using the fabric file we go in our kits as well as the scissors. I surprisingly loved the result! I styled my jeans with a tailored blazer to add a little refinement in mix, and experimented with a jewelled ear cuff.

Antique Hunting

I never knew how cool antique shops were! While hunting for a large antique table (my family loves antiques) I couldn’t help but take a few photos of my surroundings. Ornamental shelves scattered on walls, beautiful glass lamp posts, delicate embellishments on ancient tables, bold doors stacked together… and I also came across a friendly Schnauzer doggy along the way! Photos taken a Private Collections in De Waterkant.

I’m wearing:
Khaki top- Zara

Jeans- Stradivarius
*Mind blowing* shoes- Stradivarius

PS. I saw a lovely movie that I recommend to anyone who loves romance drama with a hint of physiological thriller. It’s called Third Person directed by Paul Haggis and with an amazing cast (e.g. Liam Neeson, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde etc) and it’s showing on circuit now at Cinema Nouveau.

Hope you’re keeping warm in this rainy weather!

Goodbye Winter Blues!

Today I am blissfully awaiting the summer sun that is so close yet so far… I leave in the early hours of tomorrow morning to jet off to Europe for 5 weeks! First stop? Berlin. I’m so excited because I haven’t been there before and I hear it’s a very arty city with lots to see, lots to do – my kind of place. First myself and my boyfriend visit his aunt and uncle there and then we head off to Greece where we are meeting up with my family and going sailing to the Greek Western islands. My friends are also joining me later next month for a little island hopping (Mykonos – I’m ready for you!).
Here is the last wintery outfit I’ll be wearing for the next month while I run around with last minute errands and packing (which I of course haven’t started yet). I will be blogging now and then from my holiday to keep you updated as much as I can, so stay tuned!
I’m wearing:
White boxy top- Country Road
Powder blue coat- Zara
Faded jeans- Bershka
Grey boots- Country Road
Hand bag- Zara

Cocooned Up

Here’s what I wore yesterday. I’ve been keeping warm in my Lazuli cocoon coat which is the cosiest thing I own. I love it’s modern and clean shape and it also has two side pockets (my favourite detail as my hands are always cold). I wore a chambray shirt, black jeans and grey boots. Lately, I have been taking extra notice of cake and coffee specials in Cape Town – because everyone knows winter requires a certain amount of carbs 😉 If you would like to view the specials I find, follow me on Instagram under @cleopatramarco.
I’m wearing:
Chambray shirt- Mr Price
Cocoon coat- Lazuli
Black jeans- Zara
Boots- Country Road

Peace and love,

I’m loving… Ice Blue

I’ve always had a love affair with this whimsical shade of blue… but recently this infatuation has blossomed into a full-blown obsession. The only time I’ve worn it after the ages of 4-6 was when I went skiing two years ago and bought my entire kit in ice blue.
In the past this colour hasn’t been too popular in trendy retailers and boutiques but lately I’ve seen it creeping back onto the rails in stores like Zara, Topshop, Mari and Me and Callaghan. I’m loving coats, tailored pants, nails and even leather (which I’ve recently seen a lot of in Zara) in powdery shades of blue.

All I want is a gorgeous molten coat in ice blue! Hint hint.

Office Style

About two weeks ago I was snapped at work for my first appearance in the famous ELLE office style post for! It was very exciting because I’ve always eagerly scrolled through the office styles posts without ever really imagining being in one. Here was my look to work that day:

I went for a feminine ‘spring’ look with floral shorties, a wide sleeved silk top and black pointed courts. I added a bright pink lip colour by Elizabeth Arden called  “Electric pink”.
PS. I am so sad to hear about the outcome of flight MH370… I can’t imagine how the families of those who were on the flight feel, especially after receiving the devastating news via text message. My heart goes out to them, RIP…

Superb Paris ~ Outfit of the Day

Ever since I was a little girl I’ve had this fascination of the land where the grass seemed greener, the sky bluer, the girls lovelier-  France. My love for all things French, mainly Parisian, resulted in a number of things for me. Largely studying the language and even majoring in it (I have a major in French Literature from UCT), a macaroon obsession (and anything illustrated with the Eiffel Tower) and when hearing the language (be it in a restaurant or on the sidewalk), switching off from anything I’m doing and listening in uttmost awe. Finally in 2010 I travelled to the place where, in my mind, all things magical happened- Paris.

Despite being told atrocities about my beloved city, for instance- “it’s gross and covered in litter” and “the French are SO rude”, I found it to be everything I had expected and more. This is one of the first instances in my life where I realised how close to reality stereotypes are. I literally saw ladies on bicycles with baguettes in their basket, and chicly dressed locals chatting oh so charmingly while walking their poodles and mimes playing the accordion on the ChampsÉlysées.

How does this relate to the outfit I wore today? Well, whilst browsing in Zara the other day (and lusting over all the gorgeous items I shouldn’t buy) I found this amazing white printed tee. My eyes immediately fell on the writing, “Superb Paris” it said. Basically, it was made me for me. Not just because, well, as I said I am all things Parisian obsessed, but because “white printed tee” was on the top of my “Don’t have and need” list. I am in love with it and felt simply peppered in splendour today. Silly? Yes. Delighted? Most definitely.
I’m wearing:
Tee- Zara
Black slacks- Country Road
Belt- Vintage
Heels- Mr Price
Bag- Michael Kors
Stacking rings- H&M

Bonne nuit!
