Throwback to Cape Town Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2015

One of my first fashion weeks working for a publication, which meant loads of Instagramming and back up battery packs on tap. We also shot an editorial there as per the lovely Poppy Evans aka my #GirlBoss which I will definitely be posting.

I’m wearing:
Top – River Island
Skirt – Fashion Express
Tights – Woolworths
Earrings – Topshop
Handbag – Dune London
Boots – Zara
PS. How lovely are my burnt orange fringed earrings? Mildy obsessed (even though they didn’t do well to my ear lobe).

My Distressed Denims

My blog has been a little neglected at the moment as life has been crazy. I started working at COSMO Magazine three weeks ago which probably has a thing or two to do with it! I’m loving the craziness however, and now that I am more settled I vow to post more often.

I finally got the chance to put my Legit Denim Kit to use and customised my jeans. While I usually I try to stay far away from scissors, needles and anything customising related – they actually turned out pretty great! I went for a simple jean roll up and then distressed my denims using the fabric file we go in our kits as well as the scissors. I surprisingly loved the result! I styled my jeans with a tailored blazer to add a little refinement in mix, and experimented with a jewelled ear cuff.

The Sleeveless Blazer

My recent purchase and obsession: this navy sleeveless blazer / waistcoat with sheer back from Zara. It’s super versatile and I love that its tailored yet you can just kind of throw it on. I’ve started seeing them pop into stores slowly such as Mango and Zara. This time I decided to layer it: base- grey shirt, middle- black three quarter sleeved top and lastly- sleeveless blazer. I also wore it with white skinny jeans the other day which I thought gave it a fresh look.
I’m wearing:
Grey tee- Zara
Black top- Zara
Sleeveless blazer- Zara
Jeans- Stradivarius
Grey boots- Country Road
Handbag- H&M
Necklace- Tally Weijl
Below I’ve illustrated a little ‘how to wear‘ guide on the sleeveless blazer.
*For an evening outfit or smart occasion you can wear it with a black vest/crop top underneath, heels and statement bag or clutch.
*For a more casual day look you can layer like I did or simply wear it with a slouchy tee or knit underneath.
*For work or for a more corporate and tailored look pair it with black tailored pants.

I’m loving… Ice Blue

I’ve always had a love affair with this whimsical shade of blue… but recently this infatuation has blossomed into a full-blown obsession. The only time I’ve worn it after the ages of 4-6 was when I went skiing two years ago and bought my entire kit in ice blue.
In the past this colour hasn’t been too popular in trendy retailers and boutiques but lately I’ve seen it creeping back onto the rails in stores like Zara, Topshop, Mari and Me and Callaghan. I’m loving coats, tailored pants, nails and even leather (which I’ve recently seen a lot of in Zara) in powdery shades of blue.

All I want is a gorgeous molten coat in ice blue! Hint hint.

The Old Zoo

Testing out a possible shoot location for ELLE Magazine… We found this hidden jewel of place near UCT. Apparently it used to be a zoo many years a go. Sure enough there were abandoned cages, cells and even a enormous pit (for the lions perhaps?). Graffiti covered walls, stone paths, weeping willows, flower shrubs, walls of ivy… There was so much beauty to be found and I couldn’t resist having a few photos taken.

This is what I wore to work and a sheer example of Cape Town’s bipolar weather, I was in a bikini days before.

I’m wearing:
Jersey knit- Topshop
Coat- Vintage
Jeans- Sissy Boy
Boots- ZOOM Footwear
Handbag- Michael Kors
Wintery weather also means you can change up your make up accordingly. Here, I’m wearing a deep plum lip shade by Palladio.

Birthday Drinks and Tapas at HQ

These past two weeks have been so crazy! I was in Durban for a week and I got back last Thursday evening. That same evening I rushed to watch my little brothers Christmas school play (and of course he was a champ as usual!) and from there I rushed to HQ on Shortmarket street to celebrate my 22nd birthday with a few friends over drinks and tapas. It was a fun night well spent. Every Thursday the tapas or ‘bar snacks’ are half price at HQ. The lamb sliders and mini sirloin pieces are a must!
I wore a two piece black number and chunky suede heels with ankle straps. I got these amazing but extremely hard to walk in heels at the Topshop sale last month for a quarter of their original price, score!
Crop black top with cool neck design- Bangkok Market
Black skater skirt- Mr Price
Heels- Topshop

ZOOM Footwear Challenge Day #4: Sundowner Chic

This was my outfit for the fourth day of the ZOOM Footwear Challenge! That day I decided to go to the annual Kamers design fare, “a creative feast of handmade products” which was held at the gorgeous Webersburg estate in Stellenbosch. I wore Converse All Stars as it was very grassy there and a casual event. That evening, however, I put on my chic ZOOM ankle strap nude heels with the same outfit and voila- they functioned as the perfect day to night outfit transition tactic! Hehe. What do you think about this outfit?
I’m wearing:
White lace body suit- Forever 21
Denim shorts- Jay Jays
Brown shopper- Carpisa
Heels- ZOOM Footwear
Sunglasses- A gift
Rings- Topshop and Pink Pussy (Bangkok)

With my bestie and sister.
One of my best (and most talented) friends Natasha Collins exhibited her amazing jewellery line at Kamers. Definitely check out her website, click here. I  am OBSESSED with my new ‘stacking’ Natasha G ring… Guess which one I got?
The bunny rabbit of course! Hehe. Next on my list is the butterfly, little duck and heart.
Natasha G herself.
Kamers at the Webersburg estate in Stellenbosch. So beautiful!
This is how my look transitioned from a day market to evening cocktails with my ZOOM Footwear heels:

Noir et Blanc

This was yesterdays outfit! I love this jersey, it’s from Topshop at the V&A and was one sale, bonus! I wore it with leather pants (Honey Child), black court heels (Zoom), a black handbag with gold studs (Woolworths) and the black sheer shirt I purchased recently at the Sissy Boy sale worn underneath with its leathery collar sticking out. It seems to be sale season at the moment in Cape Town!

PS.  I was recently told that on Wednesday’s all students get 10% off at Topshop when showing their student card!
Enjoy your day sunbeams.
