Say Goodbye to 2015… say hello to 2016

0
New Year’s Eve… The one night of the year you can rock an unusually massive amount of fringing, sequins, sparkles… and no one can say a thing 😉
This evening I’ll be having fun with some of my best friends at a popular NYE party, Kinky Summer.
I’ve been thinking a lot about my New Year’s resolutions… I’ve nearly rounded them up.
I think they’re pretty cool as they’re pretty much an excuse to make life goals and targets.
What are your NYR for 2016?

I’m wearing:
Playsuit – H&M
Earrings – Zara
Necklace – Forever 21
Heels – Bershka
Photos by the talented Radiefa Peters.
Have a happy NYE and be safe out there!

Antique Hunting

0
I never knew how cool antique shops were! While hunting for a large antique table (my family loves antiques) I couldn’t help but take a few photos of my surroundings. Ornamental shelves scattered on walls, beautiful glass lamp posts, delicate embellishments on ancient tables, bold doors stacked together… and I also came across a friendly Schnauzer doggy along the way! Photos taken a Private Collections in De Waterkant.

I’m wearing:
Khaki top- Zara
Leather jacket- Zara
Jeans- Stradivarius
*Mind blowing* shoes- Stradivarius
Handbag- H&M
Scarf- Unknown
Panther earrings- PINK Woman
PS. I saw a lovely movie that I recommend to anyone who loves romance drama with a hint of physiological thriller. It’s called Third Person directed by Paul Haggis and with an amazing cast (e.g. Liam Neeson, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde etc) and it’s showing on circuit now at Cinema Nouveau.

Hope you’re keeping warm in this rainy weather!

Superb Paris ~ Outfit of the Day

0
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve had this fascination of the land where the grass seemed greener, the sky bluer, the girls lovelier-  France. My love for all things French, mainly Parisian, resulted in a number of things for me. Largely studying the language and even majoring in it (I have a major in French Literature from UCT), a macaroon obsession (and anything illustrated with the Eiffel Tower) and when hearing the language (be it in a restaurant or on the sidewalk), switching off from anything I’m doing and listening in uttmost awe. Finally in 2010 I travelled to the place where, in my mind, all things magical happened- Paris.

Despite being told atrocities about my beloved city, for instance- “it’s gross and covered in litter” and “the French are SO rude”, I found it to be everything I had expected and more. This is one of the first instances in my life where I realised how close to reality stereotypes are. I literally saw ladies on bicycles with baguettes in their basket, and chicly dressed locals chatting oh so charmingly while walking their poodles and mimes playing the accordion on the ChampsÉlysées.

How does this relate to the outfit I wore today? Well, whilst browsing in Zara the other day (and lusting over all the gorgeous items I shouldn’t buy) I found this amazing white printed tee. My eyes immediately fell on the writing, “Superb Paris” it said. Basically, it was made me for me. Not just because, well, as I said I am all things Parisian obsessed, but because “white printed tee” was on the top of my “Don’t have and need” list. I am in love with it and felt simply peppered in splendour today. Silly? Yes. Delighted? Most definitely.
I’m wearing:
Tee- Zara
Black slacks- Country Road
Belt- Vintage
Heels- Mr Price
Bag- Michael Kors
Stacking rings- H&M

Bonne nuit!

La Maison Bleue

This is what I looked like yesterday! It was a bit of a sad (and coincidentally blue) day because I didn’t get into the next round of the Elle 2013 Style Reporter competition, however I shall keep my chin up and move on to the next challenge! I wore skinny black ripped jeans, a white holey knit and black points with blood red lips. I feel like this outfit exuded a hint of Gothic fused with a dash of sophistication.
I’m wearing:
Ripped black skinnies- Pull & Bear
White knit- Market in Florence
Black points- Zoom
Nude blazer-Bangkok
Studded black handbag- Woolworths
Gold necklaces- Woolworths and vintage

By the way have you been following the shows at Paris Fashion Week? Some of my favourites were Valentino, McQueen and Valentin Yudashkin’s collection!

From Day to Night: The Printed Tee

2
My most latest favourite clothing essential is definitely- the  legendary printed tee . I bought this grey one with a print of what looks like the illuminati symbol at Zara for R270. The great thing about it is you can easily dress it up, or down, acting as a wardrobe two-timer

I decided to transform it from a trendy, casual day outfit to a more sultry ‘night out’ look.  TIP: Always keep your eye open for pieces that are versatile like the printed tee. This is also a great spring wardrobe essential as you can opt to layer it or rock it bare armed.
Look #1:
For my day outfit I went for a layered casual look and wore: a chambray shirt, a khaki green grey leather jacket, grey beanie, skinny jeans and black sneaker wedges. I accessorised with my gold Casio watch, gold skinny rings, my gold studded black drawstring bag and colour reflector sunglasses.
I’m wearing:
Chambray shirt- Mr Price
Jeans- Sissy Boy
Sneaker wedges- Promod
Hand bag- Platinum Bangkok
Skinny rings- H&M
Beanie- River Island (via Asos)
Leather jacket- Alcott

Look #2:
For my ‘night out’ look I fancied it up with a sleek black leather jacket, black pointed heels and a rubber black chain sling bag. I also added a chunky gold statement necklace to add to a more sexy and smarter look. My make up changed to darker eyes and a more bronzed face.
I’m wearing:
Black jacket- H&M
Jeans- Sissy Boy
Pointed heels- Zoom
Chain bag- Alcott
Gold statement necklace- H&M

Verdict?  I loved wearing my printed tee for both day and night looks. There is something so sexy about a girl in a tee and jeans (ask any guy) and the bonus? -It’s so comfy and easy to wear

PS. Exciting news: I have officially joined the Instagram world! Find me: CLEOPATRAMARCO.

Leather, Knit & Bubbly

0
One of my best friends, Jo, came down from Joburg last week. We had such a fun filled girls weekend. These are photos from the first day she was here. We had lunch and bubbly at Knead on Kloof. I had a delicious frankfurter roll with caramelised onions, mmm! Jo and another friend of mine, Ash, both got there hair done at Scar afterwards. I was wearing a cream knit, leather leggings with gold zips, my Jeffrey Campbell boots and a drawstring black bag. I don’t mind mixing gold and silver together at all.

I also wore another cool pair of colour reflector sunglasses! I love them!! (I don’t know why I look so serious in the photo below, haha!)
I’m wearing:
Jersey knit- H&M
Leather leggings- Bershka
Boots- Jeffery Campbell
Bag- Platinum in Bangkok
Sunglasses- Ray Ban
Rings- H&M

This body shop colour is from their old range. It’s a gorgeous natural lip colour even though it looks a bit dark in this picture.

By the way, I entered Elle’s 2013 Style Reporter in association with Blackberry competition yesterday. It’s a street style based competition. Read about it here. Check out my entry blog,
Style Genes , and first post here.
