Say Goodbye to 2015… say hello to 2016

New Year’s Eve… The one night of the year you can rock an unusually massive amount of fringing, sequins, sparkles… and no one can say a thing ūüėČ
This evening I’ll be having fun with some of my best friends at a popular NYE party, Kinky Summer.
I’ve been thinking a lot about my New Year’s resolutions… I’ve nearly rounded them up.
I think they’re pretty cool as they’re pretty much an excuse to make life goals and targets.
What are your NYR for 2016?

I’m wearing:
Playsuit – H&M
Earrings – Zara
Necklace – Forever 21
Heels – Bershka
Photos by the talented Radiefa Peters.
Have a happy NYE and be safe out there!

If you haven’t followed me on Instagram, please do. I post a lot more there than on my actual blog as it fits in with our generation’s¬†always on a move lifestyle.

The craziest thing I’ve done for the love of fashion in a long time? Queue outside a closed store for two hours before it opened just to get my hands on this baby.¬†
After getting to the H&M store (or should I say the long queue where I was¬†luckily¬†about 20th in line) at the Waterfront last Thursday I decided that there would be no better birthday present than this Balmain x H&M lbd. Despite the rather pricy tag, it’s classic, part of a collab by my favourite designer and the attention to detail makes for something special. It also wasn’t crazily embellished like the others, which I would have gotten over soon after.

After seeing that there were about five of them hanging on the rail, and all in different sizes, I was sceptical of whether I’d get lucky. I don’t know how but two seconds after the doors opened, I was holding the dress and classic Balmain tee, both in my sizes. After a trip to the changing room, I found the dress fit me like it was custom made for me. If that’s not a sign…

See my newest wardrobe love:

Being a pocket lover I was excited to find that there were two pockets just near the hip region:

And the classic t-shirt with velvet logo:

Balmain X H&M

Balmain¬†and I go waay back. In fact, this French iconic brand was one of my first fashion love affairs. I remember watching Fashion TV as a young 16-year-old and falling in love with then Creative Director Christophe¬†Decarnin’s¬†ready-to-wear designs which eventually made their way onto my wall in the form of good old-fashioned¬†prestick¬†& paper.

Since Olivier¬†Rousteing’s grand¬†entrance the brand has mesmerised me even more. So you can imagine, when H&M announced their¬†collab¬†with¬†Balmain¬†I was super excited. Months later the collection is going into stores tomorrow!

Although the collection’s going to be more expensive (not your average H&M prices), a girl can dream right? Here’s a few of my favourite pieces:

The Balmain x H&M collection will be at the V&A Waterfront H&M tomorrow morning at 9am.

Throwback to Cape Town Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2015

One of my first fashion weeks working for a publication, which meant loads of Instagramming and back up battery packs on tap. We also shot an editorial there as per the lovely Poppy Evans aka my #GirlBoss which I will definitely be posting.

I’m wearing:
Top – River Island
Skirt – Fashion Express
Tights – Woolworths
Earrings – Topshop
Handbag – Dune London
Boots – Zara
PS. How lovely are my burnt orange fringed earrings? Mildy obsessed (even though they didn’t do well to my ear lobe).

Extatic for Balmain

Being the Balmain fan that I am, I was literally extatic when this fragrance was gifted to me the other day (conveniently¬†it also happens to be called ‘Extatic’). Not only it’s smell is so alluring and¬†unique the angels sing when I spitz it on but it also happens to be by my favourite¬†Parisian fashion house, Balmain.¬†
I fell in love with Balmain’s then creative director Christophe Decarin’s designs when I was in high school. Years later the brand is now headed by creative genius Olivier Rousteing who has managed to uphold the brands legacy, if not knock it up a notch.
So, what’s in the bottle?
A mixture between edgy and luxurious this fragrance combines notes of sandalwood, cashmere wood, leather, nashi pear, night jasmine and Sharry Baby orchid (that has a similar smell to chocolate).
Extatic is an olfactory metaphor for the Balmain woman, a mix of attraction for a certain lightness of being combining with an exceedingly confident character”.

Lilac & Lime

Some people ask how I wear heels all day, with sourcing and running around etc.
Firstly, I never buy heels that are¬†uncomfortable¬†in any sense (Ok, this has happened before but I’ve learnt, promise). Block heels are my favourite for daily¬†activities¬†as they are usually always more¬†comfy than most heels.
I also use my height as an excuse. Being 1.6m tall, I take full advantage of wearing heels. This is pretty much not really the reason I wear them as I actually just really love the look of them, a lot more than flats. They’re like eye candy, I don’t even notice the flats in a store unless they’re incredible (and I mean, they have to be pretty damn amazing).
But mainly, I wear heels because your job is only as¬†glamorous¬†as you make it. I feel powerful in heels, a woman on a mission if you will. So there’s my answer in a nutshell. It’s not rocket science, I just feel fabulous in them, and you should wear what you feel amazing in, that’s what fashion’s ultimately about.
¬†I also just bought the highest heels I have yet to own, in the form of soft black leather yet super hardcore ankle boots with laces, buckles, tractor treads and pretty¬†much¬†all things¬†extraordinary. They were pricey but it was worth the investment ūüėȬ†I will posting on them soon!
I’m wearing:
Fringed tee – Zara
Oxblood leather mini –¬†MRP
Cape knit – Cotton On
The most amazing heels in the world – Stradivarius
Sunglasses –¬†Miu¬†Miu¬†at¬†Sunglass¬†Hut
Handbag – H&M
These walls look like giant scoops of ice cream. Black current & lime anyone? Yes please.
By the way, I just came back from an amazing weekend away in the Karoo where I found a new love for giraffes. Such underrated animals!

Sunglass Hut Mother’s Day Shopping Experience

On Tuesday I was invited to bring my mom along to a Sunglass Hut shopping experience which took place in celebration of Mother‚Äôs Day this Sunday! The concept surrounded the role of your mom as your very first ‚Äústyle icon‚ÄĚ with the hash tag of the event being #ItStartedWithMom. Sure enough, my mom was (and still is) my very first style icon. I remember the days of watching in awe as she would get ready for a fancy evening out or dressing up in all her clothes and trotting around the house in her high heels (which is maybe the reason I love wearing them so much).

We were treated to yummy pink treats in the form of macaroons, cake pops and bubbly as well as to each choose a beautiful pair of Sunglass Hut sunnies! I‚Äôve been eyeing out a pair for a while and eventually (I really need to work on being more decisive!) left with that exact pair.
Sooo, which did I choose? The Ray-Ban Rounds in rose gold (below)! My mom went for a chic pair of dark Dolce‚Äôs in a butterfly shape.

Don’t forget to spoil your moms this Sunday!
